Pig meat is the most commonly consumed meat across the world. About one-third of all meat consumed in the world is pork, ahead of beef and chicken. However, there are some serious challenges for pig meat producers nowadays like the outbreak of the African Swine Fever (ASF) which has a massive impact on the overall production, consumption, export and import of pig meat globally.
One of the lessons we have to learn from the most recent outbreak is to have a good and effective biosecurity plan. At Intracare we gained in the recent years a lot of expertise in battling persistent viruses and bacteria outbreaks like the ASF. Intracare is also taking the lead in developing and producing antibiotic free medication against diarrhea by pigs caused by pathogens like Brachyspira hyodysenteriae. Groundbreaking innovations which will really contribute to reduce antibiotics in the pig industry.
