The future of Intracare is related with the growth of the human population. It is prognosed that in 2050, 10 billion people will inhabit the earth. Al those people have to be fed in a sustainable way. The pressure on the natural systems of those 10 billion people is enormous. For example over the last 30 years, consumption of meat, milk and eggs has more than tripled. It is expected that meat demand in will increase by a further 80 percent by 2030 and over 200 percent by 2050. With the products of Intracare we help farmers to keep their livestock healthy. A healthy livestock means high efficience a good return on investment.
The reduction in the use of antibiotics in the intensive livestock will also be in the near future a major goal. The sub-therapeutic medical antibiotic is already stopped in livestock production. We see now that other subtherapeutic treatments phased-out such as growth promoters or antibiotics or hormones. This ban is not implemented worldwide but because of the he globalization of the food supply chain will continue to raise consumer concerns for food safety and quality. Intensive livestock management without or with reduced antibiotics use will be a challenge. To mitigate this challenge control of the infection pressure is of key importance. For this Intracare developed a cleaning and disinfecting program.
Freshwater resources are relatively scarce, amounting to only 2.5 per cent of all water resources. Increasing livestock numbers in the future will clearly add to the demand for clean water. Clean water is a precursor for a healthy animal and for a good feed conversion. Intracare is specialist in treating water in animal houses so animals stay healthy during their whole live cycle.
