Did you know that acidification can
support a healthy gut microbiota?
Complete suppression of pathogens from poultry production is a challenging task. There are more bacteria in the gut than cells in the body, which highlights the importance of a healthy microbiota.
Every day, an animal is exposed to about 1 billion pathogens and their oral uptake needs to be eliminated as soon as possible to prevent colonization in the gut. The proximal gut serves as a frontline and an early-defence approach by creating an unfavourable environment for microbial growth in the crop and stomach have proven to be effective preventive measures. This can be achieved by drinking water acidification.
Organic acids reduce the pH of the water and proximal part of the gut, which has a growth inhibiting effect on pathogens and stimulates the establishment of a balanced intestinal microbiota. Highly bioavailable chelated zinc contained in this specially formulated blend helps to enhance gut wall integrity.
For many years, antibiotics were the main choice to control microbial load in poultry. With the call for reduction in use and its eventual ban in animal feeds, it has become a major challenge especially for gut health, animal performance and also pathogen control.

Liquid product packed in white PE plastic bottles or cans with approved caps. Available in the packaging sizes below:
The general dosage of Intra Aqua Acid Mineral is around 1 / 1000L of drinking water. The goal is to use a dosage of Intra Aqua Acid Mineral resulting in a pH of the drinking water between 3.8 - 4.2 (typical 4.0). This dosage can be determined by a simple measurement of your own drinking water, either by pH meter or pH strips which are provided with the bottle/can.
Instructions usage Intra Aqua Acid Mineral
Before starting with Intra Aqua Acid Mineral check dosage with pH strips
Therefore, we encourage producers to maintain drinking line cleanliness by using Intra Hydrocare at least once a week.
Why this blend of organic acids?
There are many different organic acids which all have different properties, thinking about acidification capacity, antimicrobial strength, palatability or effect on gut wall integrity. The organic acids in Intra Aqua Acid Mineral are carefully selected to achieve the best efficacy of the product.
Why does Intra Aqua Acid Mineral only contain organic acids and not inorganic acids?
Next to pH reduction, organic acids also have a direct antimicrobial effect. This is not the case which inorganic acids which only have an acidifying capacity. Acids only have a direct antimicrobial effect when they are taken up by the pathogen and reduce the internal pH of the bacteria. The difference between an organic acid and an inorganic acid is that organic acids contain a carbon atom, an inorganic acid does not. Due to the carbon atom, the acid is recognised as an nutrient source and can therefore enter the pathogen. Once inside the pathogen the acid lowers the internal pH which has a bacteriocidal effect on the bacteria.
Does Intra Aqua Acid Mineral reduce the water intake of animals?
When applied according to our advice the use of Intra Aqua Acid Mineral does not negatively affect the taste of the drinking water. A too high dosage may result in a reduced water intake therefore it is important to check the dosage with the Intra Aqua Acid Mineral dosage strips or a pH meter. These strips are a very reliable and an easy to use tool to safeguard the right dosage.
What is the benefit of the chelated minerals?
The chelated minerals are more bioavailable to the animal. They are better absorbable and therefore better utilized.
What is the advantage of drinking water application?
• Weak or ill animals generally reduce or even stop their feed intake but are continuously drinking; supplementation via drinking water ensures the continuous intake of active compounds. This is important for their recovery process.
• Application is quick and easy and reaches the animals almost immediately; supplementation via the feed takes more time to reach the animal as the feed needs to be ordered, produced and transported while in some cases immediate action is required.
• It provides the farmer full control of using nutritional supplements; at any desired time the type, dosage and duration can be chosen. Farms can even change products without waiting for the next feed delivery, whereas when there is the ability to have two separate lines, quick farm observation trials are easy to implement. This gives the ability to provide precision supplementation for specific challenges on-farm.
